Court HouseStarting a case in the Supreme Court

The NY County Supreme Court, located downtown at 60 Centre Street, has jurisdiction over all divorce cases in Manhattan. If you or your spouse lives in Manhattan, this is the court that will hear your case. To start a divorce, your lawyer must first file a Summons with Notice or a Summons and Verified Complaint and obtain an Index Number for your case after paying a fee. This can be a complicated process and it is highly recommended that you consult with an experienced matrimonial attorney before proceeding. Ingrid Gherman has the requisite experience and has handled countless and varied matrimonial cases in the Supreme Court in Manhattan.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, First Judicial Department is located at 27 Madison Avenue in the Flat Iron district. This Court has jurisdiction over appeals in Manhattan and the Bronx.
